Shipping to Zaire
The Republic of Zaire no longer exists as a name. It was an entity from the fall of 1971 through the early summer of 1997. That territory is now what is known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and therefore falls under their laws and guidelines for shipping. Your shipping company or their Customs department will be able to give you some guidance on what is allowed to be shipped there and what process you should follow to do so.
Preparing your shipment to Zaire
While getting your items ready to ship to the Republic of Zaire (now part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo), you will want to check with your shipping company for any size and weight requirements beforehand as these will need to be followed as closely as possible. Additionally you will want to check for the appropriate paperwork that you need to have affixed to your parcel when shipping to minimize any delays once it gets to the country.
Shipping limitations to Zaire
When shipping to the Republic of Zaire (now part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo), you will want to first check and see what items are on their prohibited items lists, as this is a list of things that you can not ship into the country for a variety of reasons. This list currently includes paints, stocks, perfumes, watches, metals (precious and non precious), bearer documents, any kind of ice, gases, gold or furs, among other things. There are also some items that are considered restricted items, such as live plants, in which you will need to have additional paperwork filed to do so. Please note that this additional paperwork will need to be on file before you ship as opposed to filing it after the fact which is much more difficult to do, if not impossible.
