The main threat to the security of your items when shipping to Antarctica will be due to the climate and the hostile environment both in route, and on the continent itself.  It is because of these harsh climates (which have gotten down to one hundred twenty nine degrees Fahrenheit below freezing as a point of reference), that you will want to monitor what you are trying to ship there.  Anything that can freeze and crack should not be sent, or anything that will spoil with extreme cold weather conditions.  If you have any questions about whether your shipment is appropriate to ship there, you should discuss it with your shipper for their advice on the matter as opposed to just shipping it and taking a gamble.

Given that you will be at the mercy of when a research teams resupplying source decide to ship to Antarctica, you will probably not have that many options as far as transit times to Antarctica.  Also, it will be by ocean cargo freight liner or another type of sea vessel that your goods would be shipped there so speed is not necessarily going to be on your side in this department.
